TITLE SHOULD BE WESTERN UNION \"STOLE\" MY MONEY

Original review posted by user Sep 17, 2012

I SENT MONEY TO A FRIEND VIA WESTERN UNION. MY FRIEND WENT TO WU SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS TOLD BY WU EACH TIME THAT THEY CAN'T FIND IT.

WU GAVE ME SEVERAL STORIES INCLUDING THAT IT WAS BLOCKED, THE REFUND WAS IN THE MAIL, A REFUND TAKES TIME AND FINALLY THAT THEY PAID THE RECIPIENT. THE RECIPIENT IS A LIFE LONG FRIEND SO WHEN THE RECIPIENT SAYS WU SAID THE TRANSFER COULDN'T BE FOUND THAT IS TRUTH.

WU TELLS ME THEY PAID IT, I SHOULD REPORT FRAUD TO THE POLICE & WON'T GIVE REFUND. WHAT CAN I DO?

Review about: Western Union Money Transfer.

Monetary Loss: $1800.

The worst company in the earth

My boyfriend has been receiving money through wu for three years now. He's from Turkey, not that he is muslim or anything, he has his granpa's name which is Arabic descended.

So all the sudden, he gets blocked and he can't receive nor learn anything about the miney. Now, he lost $2000 just because as soon as he gives his name, the website deletes the transaction number, and reports it as the money has been refunded. No refund, nothing.

We can't pay our rent. The real fraud is nobody else but wu.

WU ripped me off too. I was told by customer service that my money transfer, which was declined for security reasons in April 2014, would be refunded back to my bank account within 2 weeks.

Well it is now the middle of July and I have not received any refund from them. I would like to see Western Union's practices investigated by our government, fined, and put out of business. I just can't imagine WU stealing my $400.00 when they have millions if not billions. When they are sued by their big time customers and their lawyers, maybe just maybe we will be rid of Western Union.

One can only hope.

same happened to me. I was on the phone with the Philippino customer service rep and admitted to him that I no longer had the receipt.

He gave me a line of BS about making it difficult to pick up the money, but he had it up on his screen. When I went to a store to pick up the money, there was no record of the transaction, which is very irritating, and gives the appearance that the Philippino may have modified the transaction for one of his buddies to cash it.

Unfortunately the same thing happened to me; except I was on the receiving end. It was very strange to me because my sender received an email saying the money had been picked up by me and I wasn't even in a western union location that day.

Within a week, they refunded/returned the money to the sender. I'm happy about that, but now I notice that there's an unknown alternate number on my account as well as a different email address listed.

The email address is just slightly different from mine. So please be aware of what's going on with your accounts.
