About three hours ago, I heard from my flight attendant son who had left his wallet behind and was soon to fly for four days with no money. I tried to register on the Western Union site and each time it said I would receive a pin number via email, but I didn't so I called.
I gave a ream of information over the phone and was told in the end I was rejected as all first-time applicants are and I would need to contact my bank and get it to approve the transfer of funds via my credit card. I was also told I would be charged $33 for the $200 transaction although I noted the charge online was $20.
I contacted CitiBank which approved the transaction: I called Western Union back and was told there would be a 24-hour delay in getting funds to my son because my original request had been rejected.
Just now I received the pin number via email.
I called a competitor and made the transaction which had no surcharge.
Reason of review: Poor customer service.
Preferred solution: My complaint be published so others can read it .
I didn't like: Customer service, Money was not there right away, Business tactics.
